IS - Shared Service Catalyst

The main purpose of the IS Shared Service Catalyst (ISSC) is to progress the implementation of the FE and HE Sector IS Strategy. To be specific, in pursuit of this, it will:

Progress projects that implement the sectoral IS strategy, by

  • identification of current and best practice
  • options appraisal
  • working with communities of practice
  • working with the procurement function of APUC where a procurement solution is identified, undertaking the IS professional activities to support increased collaborative procurement in partnership with the APUC ICT Category team
  • development of optimal solutions
  • taking on key programme and project management responsibilities for initiatives within the brief of the ISSC and it's realistic scope

Develop the sectoral capability to adopt shared services, by

  • developing the capability to identify and support the optimal collaboration type for each initiative
  • acting where appropriate as a Cost Sharing Group facilitating the offering of shared services to members
  • supporting communities of practice
  • facilitating the identification and progression of new initiatives which may support the sectoral strategy

Support the work of the FE and HE Sector ICT Oversight Board, by

  • providing evidence of implementation of strategy and associated sectoral developments (including blockages to implementation)
  • feeding in bottom-up sectoral input to the further development of strategy
  • working with a cross-HE/FE Focus group with representation from both sectors' IS leadership groups (HEIDS, SCURL and ICT-DN)
